Fully Integrated Forge Heating Systems

Forge-LinkSM is the Inter-Power designation for turnkey induction heating machines for hot and warm forging and forming. Rated at 150 to 4,000 kW output power and frequencies from 100 Hz to 10 kHz, these fully integrated systems include solid state, high frequency power supplies, heat stations, custom coils, integral water cooling and re-circulation unit, part handling automation and operator controls.

Inter-Power has experience with virtually all mass heating and forge heating applications, including: Slab heating, Billet heating, Roll reducing, Heating for extrusion operations, Densification Impactors, Upset forging, Bar end heating/Upset Forging, Tong heating, Reheating for rolling/Reducing, Powder metals, Heating prior to tube bending.

Following are examples of several forge heating systems designed and manufactured by Inter-Power Corporation.

Forge-LinkSM Bar End Heating System This compact system is one of the fastest induction bar end machines ever built. It heats up to 12 inches on the end of ¾ in. diam. bars to 2,350° F at a production rate of 2,400 bars per hour, at 1 piece every 1.5 seconds. The system has a 500 kW/10 kHz power supply, four coils, two bar feeders, four load pushers, and an exit conveyor with infrared temperature Accept/Reject.

Forge-LinkSM Bar End Heating This Inter-Power machine is rated at 350 kW/540 Hz. It is used to heat 3-1/4 in. diam. bars to 900° F prior to shearing. The production rate of this machine 15,000 lbs. per hour.

Forge-LinkSM Automatic Billet Heater This system heats 2 in. diam billets up to 10 in. long. Production rate is 1,500 lbs. per hour with virtually no operator intervention. Billets are loaded into a bin tipper that supplies a bowl feeder. Billets move down an inclined vibratory track to the coil where they are heated to 2,350° F. Parts exit the system on a conveyor equipped with infrared sensors to monitor quality. The complete system includes work handling automation, pump station, cooling tower, and controls.

Forge-LinkSM Billet Heating System This is a 750 KW/1 kHz Forge-Link system designed to heat 2-3/8 in. diameter billets to 2,300° F. The system was designed to heat 4,500 pounds of billet per hour.  It has been in continuous operation for more than three years with virtually no unscheduled downtime.
